Hello lovelies, we hope the New Year has started pleasantly and the travel plans for this year include Indonesia and especially Tulamben – Bali.
In the past 14 days I have received countless messages from all over Europe, always asking: what paperwork needs to be done before arrival?
So here is our step-by-step “Bali vacation guide”
Tourists planning their vacation to Bali in 2025 should be well prepared. From the e-visa on arrival to the Bali tourism tax, there are a number of formalities that need to be completed before landing on the island of the gods.
While this may be a little time-consuming, it’s far better to complete these four crucial steps before you arrive so that you can hit the ground running as soon as you set foot on Indonesian soil.
– Apply for Visa on Arrival at Indonesian Government Portal
– Go to Pay Tourist Tax Online
– Go to Electronic Customs Declaration

Indonesian E-Visa on Arrival (E-VOA)
The first and most important step is to apply for your e-visa. Although it is still possible to apply for the 30-day visa on arrival at Bali Airport, it is very easy to apply online and there is no difference in cost.
The so-called eVoA (electronic visa on arrival) also allows tourists to use the autogate scanners on arrival and departure.
This shortens the entry time to just a few seconds.
There are many visa agencies that charge a fee for applying for the eVoA for Indonesia, with the price quickly rising from the official 30 euros to up to 150 euros.
Nonsensical in our opinion. Simply apply for it yourself via this page https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/.
The website is secure, user-friendly and available in English. It allows tourists to apply for eVoAs for up to five travelers at a time, making it especially easy for couples, families and groups of friends traveling together.
The electronic visa on arrival (eVoA) can be applied for up to 48 hours before arrival in Bali.
However, it is advisable to do this at least a week before arrival to allow sufficient time. Once the eVoA has been approved, it is valid for 90 days. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the 30-day period of stay begins.
Tourists must travel with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months and has at least one completely blank (unstamped) page.
The eVoA can be extended once for another 30 days within Indonesia. This entire process can be completed online via Indonesia’s eVisa website.
The next important step on the checklist for traveling to Bali is filling out the online customs form.
However, this can be done at the earliest 72 hours before arrival.
The website for the Indonesian customs declaration can be found here https://ecd.beacukai.go.id.
The form is very easy to complete and is available in English.
It is the same form that flight attendants used to hand out to passengers 30 minutes before landing.
After completing the form, passengers will receive a confirmation by email, which they should keep easily accessible on the day of their arrival in Bali. Some choose to print it out, although this is not mandatory, I personally recommend taking a screenshot of the QR code, show it, it will be scanned, done.
The third step is to pay the Bali tourism tax. To do this, you need to visit another website and payment portal at https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/.
This time, payment and application must be made individually for each traveler, including children.
The cost is IDR 150,000 and can be paid by credit or debit card.
Each traveler will then receive a QR code voucher, which they should keep easily accessible on their smartphone throughout their trip.
The Bali Tourism Police carry out regular checks at popular attractions and check whether tourists have paid their tourism tax.
Note: the tourist tax payment is not checked at the airport, but at popular sights such as Tanah Lot, Besakih or Uluwatu (temples). So if you come to Tulamben exclusively for a diving vacation, you can do without paying the tourism tax.
The last step is to download the Satusehat app. Satusehat means “one health” in Indonesian and is the government’s health monitoring app that was used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For tourists who visited Bali between 2021 and 2023, this app was used to document their vaccination status.
Available for example in the Google Playstore.
Although it is no longer mandatory to show your vaccination status, it is still technically required to have the Satusehat app on your phone and fill out the “Health Pass” section.
Indonesian health authorities are using the Satusehat app to track all kinds of infectious diseases and viruses, including Mpox and most recently Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV).
In light of rising HMPV cases worldwide, Bali Airport has introduced new thermal imaging cameras and is checking health certificates mainly from tourists arriving from China and Malaysia.
We hope this answers all your questions about the entry procedure clearly and simply? Should you still have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
With sunny greetings from Bali
