Since 22.09.2017, the Gunung Agung has been upgraded to the highest warning level IV, but the local authorities have set up a 12 km safety zone around the mountain. Residents and holidaymakers from this area were evacuated. Resorts which have been temporarily closed, are the Tauch Terminal Tulamben Resort & Spa.

All sights in Bali are still freely accessible, only the Besakih temple on the south slope of Agungs, as well as the Tirtagangga water palace in Amlapura remain closed for the time being.
