BREAKING NEWS: MOUNT AGUNG ALERT LEVEL DOWNGRADED

16:41 The alert level for the Mount Agung volcano has been downgraded from four (critical) to three

16:43 Mount Agung activity has decreased steadily over past 6 days says Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation spokesman Kasbani

16:45 The evacuation zone surrounding Mt Agung has been reduced – now only six villages within the red zone

16:47 Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation spokesman says he hopes Mount Agung activity will continue to decrease

16:49 Evacuees from areas other than 6 affected villages will be advised of Mt Agung status change & assisted by  BPBD to return if they desire

16:51 Kasbani says Mt Agung status downgrade is purely as a result of decrease in volcano activity & not other pressures

16:52 Kasbani says anything outside the new 6-7.5 kilometer exclusion zone – including the holy Besakih temple – is now safe

16:53 Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation will continue to monitor Mount Agung activity until back to normal
