Bali Airport News – Pre-flight Inspection
Power banks, wooden matches and gas lighters are now classified as “dangerous goods” that cannot be carried into the passenger cabin on commercial flights leaving Bali.
Bali Airport News – Nusa Bali quotes the head of the Airport Authority for Bali and Nusa Tenggara,Herson, on Sunday, March 4, 2018, who said the prohibition follows the issuance of an instruction issued by theDirector General of Civil Aviation and is in conformance with stipulations published by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) andInternational Aviation Transport Association (IATA).
Herson explained that the prohibition on bringing matches and power banks into the passenger cabin of an airplane is connected to past incidents in which these items have caught fire while a plane was in flight.
The ban on power banks is not absolute. Power banks rated below 100 kw can be carried on a flight. Power banks rated between 100 KW-160 kw must be approved in advance by the airlines. Power banks with a capacity exceeding 160 kw are absolutely forbidden inside the passenger cabin.
